Euthanasia

“Ancient Greek. Are you sure?” she asked

Convincing her was indeed a difficult task

“-Hippocrates was against this tradition”

She said “Death shouldn’t be an option whatever maybe the condition”

This wasn’t just a regular debate; it was a battle of opinions

Standing in front of him was his opponent, not his friend or companion

“Life is precious.” She said

He replied tactfully “Even if the person is lying forever in his bed.”

“What’s the point of having such a wasted life?”

She answered his question calmly “Then how will anyone ever learn to strive?”

“Things might get better tomorrow.”

He chuckled “Might isn’t that convincing though.

They also might take turn for the worse.

Death is boon when life itself becomes a curse.”

She was frowning now

He was acting like a pessimist. Wow!

“-Life is never easy, it never has been

But giving up on it like this, I think is a sin!”

“-Call me a sinner if you want to

But just try to think it once from my point of view

As a mercy I am pleading in front of someone to kill me

Where death is a better choice, I am leading such a life you see

And may be my next life will be better

At the least I would be capable of achieving something greater.”

“-And what if you don’t get one

She said to him “What if this is the last, you’re done!”

He smiled and said “I guess I will be still fine.”

“-Don’t you get it, it’s a crime.

You are just running away, you are a coward”

He snorted “You are being such a forward.

Person should be allowed to die with dignity”

“-There isn’t dignity in death. It is pure malignity.”

“-So according to you a person should just keep suffering in silence?

Isn’t that worse than violence?

The pain is bad, but the helplessness is unbearable

The inability to do anything seems to be terrible

I am a burden on my loved ones

Isn’t it just better that I leave before my time comes?

Or maybe just I don’t have the will be struggle anymore

I am so shattered from my very core…”

“-How can you say this? I think every person should learn to fight.

Stephen Hawking had ALS but he didn’t give up. You should never underestimate the possibility of what might

Euthanasia I think, seems like a convenient alternative at first

And if you can’t go forward you can just reverse

Times will be tough

I know it will get really rough

But never stop believing in miracles, they happen when you have hope

You just have to be patient and learn how to cope

If you give up today you will never know

What beautiful tomorrow might hold…”
