The Box in the Attic
The Box in the Attic
Today I happened to be in the attic,
Every corner of the place seemed like magic;
Yes, it was dark and dusty,
The things in there were old and rusty;
I started looking around,
And guess what I found?
A wooden box with inscription,
But it had no description;
I was both confused and excited,
To discover what I had just sighted;
It all seemed like a movie setup,
It was just that I was not wearing any makeup;
I imagined the mysterious music in the background,
And thought that I heard some weird sound;
I decided to open the box and look into it,
I stepped back and created some space to sit;
My heart was throbbing,
I felt like sobbing;
What could be inside this box brown,
My brain kept thinking it could be a crown!
Three, two, and one, I opened the box,
And the sight left me in total flummox...
There was this little note with letters red,
"Satisfaction Leads To Happiness," it said!
This brought a wide smile on my face,
I thought of life as a game of run and chase;
But I was wrong, this note proves it all,
Happiness is essential in this life small;
I was contented to have been able to know,
The path that the note in the box intended to show;
It was all going well,
When I suddenly got distracted by a smell;
Oh my dear! My cake was burning,
And I felt my spirits downturning;
Hurriedly down the stairs ran I,
And before I could think to sigh,
I saw the smoke inside the kitchen,
That brought out all my tears hidden;
I was about to shatter,
When my eyes fell on the leftover batter;
The words of the note flashed in front of me,
I smiled and baked a cupcake happily;
It came out softer and sweeter than ever,
I felt satisfied as I had felt never;
Yes! It was true that I had made a mess,
But my efforts and satisfaction gave me infinite happiness!!
I had been to the attic to get my old knife,
But the note in that box taught me life...
