Like a candle they consume themselves

But illuminate the paths of their students

It is the light that they store for their treasures

But in darkness they rule and seek their pleasure

Ignoring sun, ignoring rain

Ignoring bliss, ignoring pain

Ignoring fatigue, ignoring rest

 They always give their best

Yet they are not destiny’s darling creatures

I salute those teachers

I salute those teachers.

Like a yogi they symbolize dedication

They impart the nectar of education

They yield many ekalavyas and tendulkars

Yet they may not be dronas or archerkars

They teach how to translate the dreams

They teach how to flow like streams

They produce herculean heroes for many nation

Ignoring kudos, ignoring humiliation

Like nature they are eternal givers

Yet they are dubbed as mere ciphers

I salute those teachers
