Silent Mother
Silent Mother
A mother's always strong-willed
She ignores mistakes and
Keeps her lips sealed
Watching us prosper
She rejoices and thrills
But a mother wails for her children
Bellows in agony,
Anger, grief, and pain
She has to combat each of them
My country's flag
Reminds me of
The torn loose end of
My mother's saree
An insignia of injury
It needs care
It needs compassion
Even our environment,
Our heritage and history......
I hear devastating calamities
Disaster knocking on our door..soft & slow
I smell the erupting wrath of Mother Earth
When the siren blows out of the factory
I can predict at any time
The volcanic lava might flow
I can foresee civilization disappear
With the sun descending
Into the distant wooden veneer.
A penchant for advancement
Encroachment into other nation
Is it a sign of progress
Or Is it a gradual step towards
Annihilation???
In the polluted water, and the struggle to breath
I hear the moaning of the Mother Earth
Night after night Staring at the twilight
The silence of my mother bruises me to the depth
Listen to her...I can sense it's concerning
Silent hour between life and death...
