She Walked Alone

She Walked Alone

She walked alone.

I wish I could claim she was daring and brave.

She walked alone.

I wish I could claim she shattered societal shackles.

She walked alone.

I wish, how I wish, there was more to her story, more to her death.

She walked alone.

She draped her body with thread, each carefully placed to hide her soul,

she draped her voice in the silence, her demeanor in muted Greys.

She did it all. She played the role, she should have won the game.

She laid bare her body and soul to patriarchies ax, the devil's exchange for safety.

And yet the rug was pulled from beneath her.

All it took was one man.

One man to severe her ties to life.
