Resolutions And Inceptions

No matter what resolution I seem to take; every year they wind up turning fake,

From the beginning of the first day, the energy and grit equally start to wane…

Efforts built so painfully over the last months, all will soon lie in vain;

Because New Year’s Resolutions are a waste of time, “Don’t ever make ‘em” is a piece of advice worth a dime.

Instead, make promises that you could keep, just to make sure later you wouldn’t have to weep,

So throw away the decrepit down the road, empty your pockets for the new and oncoming load…

Throw away the bad nostalgia; leeching your memories down, a new year has already begun;

A year behind me, still many more to come, this is not the time for resolution but action.

After an hour’s thought or so, I decided to make up this year’s resolution at one go,

And a single one at that, “No resolution from now on”, I declare thoughtfully…

May the whole year is incandescent, mellifluous, succulent and sublime for you;
