Rain

Rain

2 mins
281

The sun scorched with all his might,

Gulping energy from all in sight,

His thirst spared no one around,

Even the water from under the ground.

This was once, a land with lush green cover,

With thick bushes and trees as tall as a tower,

Now parched, a deserted plane,

Bereft of water, a dry, uninhabited terrain.

A tall lonesome tree stood braving the heat,

Having survived so far was no tiny feat,

He vowed to stand, till he was drained of all his power,

With unshaken faith in the ultimate creator.

The universe would not allow this meaningless extinction,

To revive the cycle of life it had a solution,

Clouds were created with a specific instruction,

To reach the place of atmospheric depression.

The wind pushed them with all its might,

The vapour laden clouds, shut out all the light,

The tree saw the sign, signalling the end of his plight,

He pleaded with the clouds to join him in his fight.

The sky light up with lightning, followed by thunder,

Conveying Nature's disdain, her anger,

And then, down came the pouring rain,

Soaking up the dryness, erasing all the pain.

The land gulped, to get her stomach's fill,

The lakes were careful not to let the rain drops spill,

The tree enjoyed the heavenly shower,

It was time to rejoice, since he was going to recover.

The leaves sprouted with renewed vigour,

With time blossomed the budding flowers,

Slowly the scene turned colourful and bright,

With a rainbow of colours every where in sight.

The rain had restored the fading life,

Reviving in everyone the strength to survive,

So it shall be, for some more time,

Till the Sun takes over, at its prime
