Quiet Flows the Beard

Once, a little story I heard

About a man with a flowing beard

He robed himself in a long gown

And was thought to be a mendicant.

 

Soon came the people for his blessing

He took their hands and did a kissing

His act of kissing became famous

And he was no longer anonymous

 

Came the news reporter for his story

Soon the people knew of his life history

Enlightenment he got on the banks of Tamaraparini

For the pagan, his story was hilarious and funny.

 

Politicians and power brokers came and donated some land

Soon he built a monastery that was grand

Followers in millions formed a queue

For they knew not about life and salvation they hadn’t a clue.

 

Our land is ancient and full of religious monks

People worship not knowing if they are clones

Rituals and rites make people pauper

Nothing illegal, so what in the name of religion, they hamper.
