Preach Me Not
Preach Me Not
Steeped in the morass
Of lies and deceit,
You preach me to
Fall not for tempting baits;
My waking self discerns
The conscientious path.
Slinking behind the snug veil
Of your muted conscience,
You scream at me to
Conceal not my soul;
My psyche is deaf to
Such voices of hypocrisy.
Canoeing your lifeboat safely
You coax me to
Panic not, being stuck
In a whirlpool;
My dignity disdains
Such camouflaged mercy.
