Why do you hurry, O ticking time,

When you have eternity on your palm?

Have you left your lady love

Stranded in a distant island

All alone, so you must

Rush for a reunion

As soon as you can?

What luxury is

To halt and take a breather,

Before you freshen up

And start again?

Don’t you feel embarrassed

When they call you

A tyrant, a taskmaster,

Engrossed in a selfish run

To infinity?

Don’t you ever worry when

Your ceaseless march

Decimates many a life

That you spawned earlier,

Leaving aside memories

Of unfulfilled dreams and

Experienced realities?

Come, sit by me

And relax awhile

And tell you a tale,

To kill your monotony

And heal your ennui,

Before you resume
