My Timid Self
My Timid Self

Oft when I prod myself to
Take a plunge into
What my passion follows,
You amass all wimpy excuses
For me to succumb to.
Oft when I long to
Transcend to a world
Outlandishly complete,
You make me distrust
My fond dreams,
Citing sad, shattering stories
From the pages of history.
Oft when I muster
All my support
To brave life’s hurdles,
Scale new heights,
You come coaxing me
Prophesying the dark days ahead.
This lone, blessed life
Is slipping by fast
Listening to your
Dictatorial designs
Inciting an intense,
Incessant war against
My moral stance.
No more will I
Pay heed to you, my timid self!
For, I’m girding my loins now
To decimate you
Before the next dawn,
To live life full-on!
