Past Few Days
Past Few Days
The past few days
Were as heated as a summer afternoon;
And the nights were chilly.
How did I find comfort?
Well, I looked for you silly!
I waited for the rain in droughts
And asked for a quilt in a snowfall;
And when I had no answer
For the barrenness of the earth;
Well, I stalled!
I held you closer in storms
And showed you the morning mist;
And I can do that all again
When we really meet;
Well, if only you insist!
The past few days are nothing
As compared to what awaits next;
And what we once had
Is enough to smile;
Well, if you ever check the facts!
