Nightmares
Nightmares
Look around and let me know
If there's satisfaction on the shore
For everything the world bestows
Upon us, may only be an addition to our woes.
There's a mind-numbing darkness,
An all-consuming black haze
I wonder if it's too difficult to harness
The positivity, or if it's just lost in the maze.
I hear tales of despondency all around
And it's no wonder we're deaf to the sound
Of second chances and new bounds
It all just seems to bring on the wrath of
Mind-borne hounds.
So I busy myself all times of the day,
Forgoing sleep most nights
Just to keep the nightmares at bay.
