As I swam into the depths of my thoughts,

I encountered a few glimpses of the past.

A few memories of happenings.

Initially meant to be discarded,

But my dear brain,

Had they preserved,

Sharply engraved in its alleys.

Most of those seemed alright to me now.

Making me wonder,

What had made me,

Want to discard them in the first place.

Might be some bitter people,

Associated with them.

Might be some bitter lessons they bore.

And this I pondered upon today,

For a time quite long.

I do not now wish to throw those away.

It seems they are far too precious,

To lose anyway.

For you see,

These bitter glimpses of the past,

Which had been chosen by my dear old brain to keep caved in,

In itself,

Apparently, seem as my shield now,

Protecting me from any further bitterness.
