Memories Of Another Summer
Memories Of Another Summer
I still remember the summer
Of my childhood years,
It was a time to play outdoors,
Of sunstroke or heatwave
There were no fears,
For it was summer and it was
Time to play.
Now too there is summer but
The heat is unbearable,
No outdoor games but indoor
Games,
A couch potato at home no movement,
What has man done to nature;
For summer to leave its tranquil nature,
Where have all the poets' gone,
Who wrote poems on summer as their themes,
When summer was time for
Romance,
In the lazy afternoons sitting
Together,
Enjoying the cool breeze of the gentle Swaying leaves,
Among the trees.
Now summer is no more romantic,
For the heat is unbearable,
Added to our everyday woes,
Is a deadly virus that follows us wherever we go,
So to forget about the heat
And the virus,
I take a trip down memory lane,
To my childhood years,
To bask in those summer dreams once again,
The only way I can remain sane.
