Behind a smile that’s pretty

Aren’t tears flowing in plenty?

What’s sadder than this life?

Can’t even die nor can stay alive!

What great sins have I done?

That is Love’s search I have to constantly run?

Youth wasted I, in search of passion

Lost everything but did ever gain affection?

When will I, for love, stop craving ‘n’ raving?

When will I, this hide ‘n’ seek game, stop playing?

Why have I, to beg for someone’s look?

Why is Love’s craze I have become a crook?

Why’s winter so dull ‘n‘ boring?

Why’s spring so late in arriving?

Isn’t death better once and for all?

Than cursing life at each tear’s fall

Love, my madness, my frenzy, my weakness!

Once I win Love, it’ll restore all losses!
