Lost In Love

Lost In Love

The sunlight filtered through the leaves,
With the blue birds singing to her,
She walked through the forest
And her happiness began to stir.

As she leaned over the cool waters of the crystal pond
That welcomed her to have a gratified drink,
She saw a charming face of a young man
That she feared might disappear with a blink!

But no! He stayed and smiled at her
Her heartbeat raced to Heaven and fro.
She turned to watch the Prince on his white horse
Gallop into the other half of the woods that saw snow.

Follow she did to retrieve her heart
But soon lost she was,
The South wind was cold and she was stranded
The snow piercing her bare feet like shards of glass.

Looking around
She noticed the grey sky.
The moon was up
And the sun was about to die.

Lost in the obscure woods,
She was glad there was still some light.
She turned back to return to the sunny garden she came from
But the door to happiness was shut tight.

Mist and fog crowded around
And the lost girl was now fret.
For a man whom she never knew...
She had lost what she had, letting her into debt.

She looked at her pitiful countenance,
Settling down near a frozen lake.
Feeling her cold skin
She realised her mistake.

But again came that reflection
Which smiled at her from beyond the ice.
She should have learnt her lesson...
But the mistake was repeated twice.

Up she was, following his white shadow
That now took the North Gate.
The Prince disappeared once again
Leaving her sulking about her fate!

The sky was black,
Filled with burning stars and a meringue moon.
Though it left her in awe
She knew she had to find him soon.

And wander she did, into the darkness,
Red glowing eyes watching her from the bushes.
The owl sulked a warning to the lost maiden,
But she was under the spell of the cupids.

In vain she tried searching for him time and again,
Everytime landing up at the same place.
She wanted to feel the magical presence of the Prince
But her feet had already lost their grace.

Looking up at the skies,
She wondered if she'll ever find him...
She believed that he who brought her so far
Will come to rescue her before her eyes dim.

Hunger wretched her soul,
Her mind was etched with severe woe
And her heart was calamitous
But her love and hope only began to grow.

To her left she saw a colossal waterfall
That seemed to belittle her presence.
And as she stared into the sheet of elixir,
Her misery grew immense.

For what she saw was her beloved Prince
Holding his better half
They were dancing to the song of the singing lark
And stopped to deliver a conspiratorial laugh.

Happy let them be, she thought
As she touched the illusion on the pouring sheet
But not once could she find out what the Prince had felt about her
It was the end of her- her defeat.
