Little Did She Know
Little Did She Know
On the first day
The little girl went to school
Wearing her favourite dress
Little did she know
She would be sent back home
Saying she was not "appropriately dressed"
For dress codes were only meant for girls to cover-up right?
Growing up she was bullied by people
Saying "you are too fat to be pretty"
She looked in the mirror trying not to feel disgusted by her own reflection
Little did she know
Her beautiful soul would be measured in pounds
For people said beauty comes in all sizes, but none believed it.
Graduating she got her dream job
Worked her butt off day and night
Little did she know
No matter what efforts she puts in she'd never get equal pay or position.
For the fact that women are equal is still considered as an "ideology".
Marrying the man of her dreams
Expecting them to be equal partners for life
Little did she know
Even after a tiring day at work, house chores and children were her responsibility
For sometimes women create own heartbreaks through expectations.
Even after all the injustice, she had been through
People wondered how she still had the courage to go
And how even after all the damage done, she was not shattered
Little did they knew that just by calling herself a woman made her utterly whole and complete.
Cause she was a phoenix who would burn, only so that she could emerge from her ashes again.
To become the heroine of her own legend.
