In the Middle of the River

Love was in the air, 

On the boat and everywhere. 

He had planned to surprise her, 

Propose her with a ring and cake - two tier. 

They looked so soaked in love, 

That even death couldn't do them apart. 

He rowed the boat with care, 

With the gentle breeze brushing past her hair. 

At the middle of the river, 

He paused and anchored the boat. 

Steadying himself he knelt down,

With the vast sky and endless water around, 

He stretched his hand with ring forward, 

And with chin held high, 

Lovingly he looked at her face, 

Her beauty… ahh… he couldn't take away his gaze. 

"Will you marry me"? 

He asked with eagerness. 

Lest he knew what was in store, 

That she wasn't his anymore. 

She had plotted against him, 

With her new found soulmate. 

" All I want is money, 

So, goodbye honey"!! 

He dreamt of a fairytale

Right in the middle of the river, 

And there he lay with love being lost, 

Alas… His life was its cost.
