Pride of Alanganallur

The sleepy town of Alanganallur, 

Was bustling with joy. 

The days of pongal were nearing, 

And so was for Jallikattu. 

The studs were prepared well, 

Their horns shone bright. 

the hump on their back, 

Was ready for embrace. 

Fondly called Yeru Thazhuvuthal, 

Which means embracing the bull, 

Jallikattu shows the bond 

Shared by the farmer and his bull.
