If Only She Knew
If Only She Knew
Alone she came into this world, not aware of the male chauvinism,
Learning to ply trade by herself, within this entangled prism.
Earmarked as a constant blot on the family,
She bore the brunt of life with a smile on her lip, oozing so clammily.
They cut her wings so she wouldn't fly,
But no one quite saw, on the inside, how much she cried.
Forced into subjugation in all walks of life,
She feared worse would follow in her life as a wife.
Shattered and distraught, her thoughts wavered,
Until, death, she figured was what her mind favoured!
