I Longed For...

Dear diary,

By the noise of the crickets, woke up

Started my day as usual;

To my surprise, I found a cup of tea

On the dining table for me.

Took the cup and sipped the tea,

Glanced out through the window,

Found a flock of crane

Flying together to the nearby field.

That sight clung into my heart,

I longed to walk through the paddy fields,

Till now, it remained as a dream,

The longings were longings alone.

I longed to run in the greens

I longed to be a kid

I longed to forget my sorrows

I longed to write down my story.

Dear diary,

The usual things are usual, but,

I loved to learn something new

From the usual life,

Lockdown made me think so.

My longings are in my heart,

Still, I longed to fly like a bird,

I longed to share my thoughts with you,

That's the only longing that comes true.
