Hunger Calls

Hunger Calls

The clock struck six in evening,

The sweet smell growled my tummy.

I cried ,"Hunger Calling",

"Stop Yelling," raged my mummy.

Idli Sambhar with chutney,

Was all on dining table,

I tried to bake cake but had no money;

Sorry son, I wasn't able.

The clock struck seven,

Hungry like a wolf, poor me.

Went up to my best friend, Kevin;

For dining out together we flee.

I would like to have lentil based stew,

With steamed rice cake,

Keep it right & spicy too;

And remember there should not be any mistake.

I heard my stomach rumbled,

"Here's your order sir," said the waiter.

"This is Idli and not a cake," I grumbled;

And you know, I'm an Idli hater.

The waiter stood perplexed,

"Idli" is the rice cake you ordered,

He got all in a sweat and vexed,

These are the items we have offered.

I was guilty and upset,

However, I fulfilled the aesthetic hunger;

Returned home with regret.

Mummy asked, "Have you made any blunder".
