How Will You Be Remembered?

How will you be remembered?

When decades have gone by

And a thousand unsynced footsteps

Pass over your decaying bones.

As a fighter, as a survivor, maybe as a lover. 

Or as just another lonely skeleton wandering on the earth. 

What words will be spoken at your grave by the people who have never loved you?

Will they wish they had?

Will they talk about your beautiful eyes or the way you looked when you were laughing?

Will they think about your favorite songs and guess your favorite colour?

Will they talk about all the times that you lost your mind and shut them out, the times that you hurt them and they hurt you?

Do you wonder about these things in the graveyard or do you think about them everyday, in the crowd?

And perhaps the living bones are an equal mystery as the dead ones who left without goodbyes.
