Guiding Star

There is the light that glows within us 

But we need that light to brighten,

There is always an urge to move ahead

But we need someone to show the road.

We are curious always to find out

To learn and move ahead,

But we need someone to hold on and guide us

So that on the road of life we easily tread.

In all these years you have been

The one who stood strong by my side

Holding, correcting, at times being upset

When mistakes I made which always you did find.

You picked me up when I did fall

You pulled me up when I was left behind,

You were there caring, supportive and so very kind.

Today on this Teachers Day 

I have only to say

I would not have made it or moved so far

If you had not been there to stay.

Thank you, my dear teacher

For being the guiding lamp

You have preached me how to make a mark

Always holding my head high

Wherever whenever I stand.
