Don’t Linger
Don’t Linger
Linger not over the painful past,
Harsh memories will go, if not fast.
But you, my soldier, keep moving on,
I promise, your worries will soon be gone.
I know it still hurts and haunts you;
You cry alone at night, feeling blue.
Your emotions, you try to suppress,
But that is where you transgress.
Be sad if you want to be sad;
Be mad if you want to be mad.
But dare not linger, my friend,
Yet for the world, dare not pretend.
Your spirit and soul are strong;
In the present is where you belong.
So keep on striving and thriving;
Dead souvenirs, you need to stop reviving.
It is called the present because it is a gift;
Heavy clouds over your head will lift.
Rejoice because the time is now,
Life will be wonderful, I vow.
