Goodbye My Friend

A goodbye poem to a long friendship with alcohol.

I never thought I would see the day I would say goodbye to you

I'll never forget our happy memories,

Just us hanging out with music in the sun

I can't wait to forget how from my problems,

You always made me run

I've had you in my life for a long time now,

This no doubt is true

I get anxious to think about how it will be without you

Everyone tried to warn me, they would say you were ruining my life

I didn't want to be without you, so I chose to live with all your strife

At one point, you were more important to me than my family, children and health

It got to the point I was beginning to lose myself

And so it is with a heavy heart, I say goodbye to you today

So the real important things to me can come back and forever stay.
