I'm the fire,

I like to burn.

I've burnt so many,

That I've forgotten to count,

Men, women and children,

Have all been burnt by me.

I've wiped out,

Entire villages,

Town after town,

Only the charred bodies lay.

I'm impassive to screams,

The women, the men, the old,

They all do.

The children fare better though,

The initial shock of being burnt,

They give a shrill, high pitched, scream;

And then, all is quiet, very quiet.

I keep dancing,

Dancing with glee,

Waiting for more.

I'm the fire of 1947,

In the name of religion,

In the name of politics,

I'm burning still.
