For You

For You

I hardly write poems,

It’s not my cup of tea,

But ever since I’ve met you,

The words pour out free

When did this begin,

I ask myself one day,

Was it the when I glanced at you?

Outside the café?

Or was it when you were shopping,

With that long list in hand.

Or when you were with your friends,

In Lego land?

You must believe I’m a stalker,

Why wouldn’t you?

But let me be clear,

It is all for you.

I don’t want you hurt,

That is something I can’t bear,

I only want you happy,

That I swear.

For your happiness is mine,

That is love.

In my eyes your presence

Reminds me of a beautiful dove

You fly freely,

In the sky of your dreams.

You never look behind,

Or ever see me.

You don’t notice me,

Outside your house at midnight.

Or sitting two chairs away from you

When you eat in that restaurant at night.

You don’t see me watching you,

From across the room.

I suppose you don’t even know,

That I am the one holding the broom.

Yes, me the lowlife janitor,

Has fallen for you the elite.

What a turn of tales,

Must be hard to believe.

But my love for you is everlasting,

I shan’t give up,

For maybe one day,

You might lookup

You might notice this poor man’s struggle,

To gain your attention,

From your lips, I might,

Hear my name being mentioned.

That is my only hope,

The result of my patience.

For you to notice,

My very own presence.
