Fly High

Flying high in my sky of dreams

I take a turn to look back down

There I see you tiny and meagre

Looking up in the hopes

Of calling me back! 

But I ain't turning back again

I have wings now

Like a Phoenix 

I have risen from the ashes

My wings deriving strength 

From your derision of me! 

My wings are spread wide and far

Covering the Sun, a shadow they cast

I see you small, under the shadows

Standing alone, looking sallow 

But I have taken off high

Beyond the reach of your eye

For I am the Phoenix

I have reborn from fire

The fire that you set

To burn my aspirations

The fire that helped me 

Be myself

To pursue my ambitions

To chase my goals

Without inhibitions 

Look at me

As I fly high

I aspire to touch the sky

As you are reduced 

To a speck on Earth

I climb the skies

And laugh in mirth

When finally, to my eyes

You disappear!
