The Covid-19 lockdown has forced us to spend more time with those who matter the most.

We may quarrel with each other for a while.

But in the end will always reconcile.

We may have over the years drifted apart.

But still occupy a special place in our hearts.

We may not be living under the same roof.

But never do we feel that we are aloof.

We may not be calling often to see how we’ve been.

But we’ll be there for each through thick and thin.

We may have said and done some cruel things when upset.

But today there’s no anger or animosity, only regret.

We may have taken each other for granted, spent time too less.

But even the memories of those few moments seem priceless.

We may have had dinner together, talking to each other for a while.

But those desultory conversations now make us smile.

We may not meet often, though we have tried.

But when we do, the feeling in words cannot be described.

We may be planning vacations together which seldom materialize.

But when we had time we squandered it, we belatedly realized.

Friends, colleagues, and acquaintances,

Just as always, will come and go.

But the river called family, like Tennyson’s brook,

Will no matter what, continue to flow.

For blood, as they as say, is thicker than water.

By an invisible and unbreakable thread we are bound.

We’ve got each other’s back, we will never be alone,

Even when there is no one else around.
