Doctors

Doctors are a busy lot,

Too busy through the year.

Too busy righting all health wrongs,

Too busy wiping tears.

With gentle words and steady hands,

With calm, collected mind,

Our problems crowding in their heads,

With their problems left behind.

But docs (look here!), are human too,

They do sit down and cry,

As they give new life to failing ones,

And life passes them by.

No time to spend on little things,

No time to stand and stare.

Theirs is the time to do or die,

To heal and mend and care.

I pray God bless them for their time,

And at every breath they take,

For their breath is life for other men

They bend so we may not break.

I pray too, that they be made strong

To live out their vocation

To serve in love and bring men hope

Whatever the occasion.

It's 'thank you' time now dear, dear doc,

For everything you've done.

For putting us back into the race

As your race you run.
