Distorted Realities
Distorted Realities
I try harder
To keep my eyes open.
While the piercing lights hit me,
Is the car racing towards me,
Or is it really just going through me.
I see lines of lights whoosh past my face,
I can almost smell the scent of the car
And hear the horn go beep..beep.beep.
The traffic lights go red-green-red-green- yellow
And stop.
The world around me stops.
It's like time froze.
Yet that one car gets to me,
I wait for the pain to hit me and engulf me,
But nothing happens.
I wait for that feeling of oozing blood,
Across my skin, that feeling of wetness,
But nothing happens.
It's almost as if I yearn for the pain,
Just to make me feel alive again.
To get me out of this endless loop,
Red-green-red-green-yellow.
The scene shifts,
A throbbing pain builds up in my head.
People stare from behind their glass windows,
They look with pity in their eyes,
With this false helplessness on their faces.
The scene shifts,
The loop continues.
Red-Green-Red-Green-Red.
