Abstract Tragedy Others

Dear Society

Dear Society

Dear Society,

I saw a man,

In torn and tattered clothes,

Begging on the street,

For his life and soul

I saw a man,

With his family he lived,

In a home which wasn't a house,

But a rundown hut where he found his home

I saw a man,

Who worked hard,

But work wasn't enough,

For he ended up jobless,

For corruption prevailed over honesty

I saw a man,

Bred under a special tree,

For it bore special fruits,

Of poverty, Of hunger,

Of sadness and of misery,

I saw a man,

Bread under a special tree,

For it's roots were made,

Of power, of money, of injustice,

Of discrimination and of negligence

I saw a man,

Hopeless and exhausted,

Ignored by people and slapped by humanity,

For humanity did not exist,

For he was not considered a human

I saw a man,

Ask for help,

Not for himself,

But for the people around him,

For to him, his people mattered more,

Than money or power did

I saw a man,

Lay lifeless on the street,

When his soul left his body,

Society still thought of him as a nobody,

For all he received was glances of pity,

For all he received was still not help

Little did the people know,

That the man was murdered,

He was killed,

By poverty, by hunger, by society,

And by power,

And by all these sins which still remain unpunished.
