Childhood Nostalgia
Childhood Nostalgia
I remember the colorful days of childhood,
Those responsibility free days,
Only going to school
And making new friends.
Studying a bit and getting good grades,
Craving for ice-cream
And waiting for the vacations
Now seem like a dream.
New dresses and gifts
During the festivals,
Not having to think of career
Or job or future goals.
Days when we were too young
To understand the meaning of 'love'.
Days when we had only ourselves
And no one else to prove.
We were to young back then
To understand the pain of betrayal,
Hearts filled with innocence
And games consisting of sand and gravel.
Days when we spent less time
Looking at our cell phones.
Days when sadness couldn't
Make my heart 'a stone'.
Days when I spent more time
In the lap of nature,
Which now I barely remember to do
In the process of becoming mature.
Days when sunsets seemed
As beautiful as the sunrises.
Days when I was more aware
Of the world's virtues than the vices.
Days when life was
So much more simple.
Days when I used to take care
Of my hobbies, my smile and my dimple.
Never will I ever get back
Those carefree days of childhood.
Those are the days I miss the most
Amidst the busy world of adulthood.
