CAT FAMILY (WEEK 2 Theme: Family)
CAT FAMILY (WEEK 2 Theme: Family)
They lay there at a nook behind my study table,
Little balls of wool and fur, playing with papers and pens
Feigning sleep, they made a sight – I’d accepted them as inevitable
They were as truant as my own childhood years, rummaging at hungry dens.
The cat’s litter lay, quietly contented, all cuddled up
They looked with starry eyes, in my direction occasionally,
Upon first sight, the six kittens gave my mom many a hiccup
She began to reprimand me, like I’d ordered it, intentionally.
Their little claws dug into my flesh, when I touched them
The mother cat often made a nocturnal visit, to supervise –
The kittens’ angry shrieks, cries for milk, rent the air without shame
“You shouldn’t go near them”, from all corners ringed mom’s advice.
Lo! The little space appeared empty one morning, all of a sudden
The mother cat had carried away her litter to avenues more golden.
