Carnival

Carnival

He looks back over his shoulder then spins around entirely. He stares at an unfamiliar scene with fear peppering his already uneasy mind as the realization sinks in. He’s alone. Mom and dad aren’t there. They had brought him to the carnival. Coming was their idea and now they’re gone. Every step he retraces reveals novelty, defying his memory and sinking him deeper into isolation. The sky now burns a vengeful red instead of the casual blue it had been when they arrived. The rides shift precariously in their stations with violent hurdles upward, downward, laterally, and in angles that shouldn’t be possible. He hears robots shaking against the amused laughter of its passengers, small among the noise. People who win a ticket are sent to the carnival on a bus; cars would become a problem as many visitors do not return. Passengers who die are placed in black plastic bags and thrown into a mass burial pit. It focuses on a young boy (Jerry) who wins a ticket to the titular Carnival, much to his mother's grievance.
