Bewitching Diwali Night

Bewitching Diwali Night

Don't burn firecrackers

It causes pollution

It's my last request

This Diwali

Don't fix cricket matches or love relationships

That was never meant to be

It's my last wish

This Diwali

Don't eat sweets

Even if it's for the sake of others,

and you are not happy,

you don't want to

It's my last appeal

This Diwali

When the sun invited the moon

To witness the festival of Diwali

the Diyas were lit

I was happy but sad a bit

because I could not meet

My friend!

Who is celebrating miles across a distant land

that's not just it!

Melancholy blew with the wind

when it spoiled the Rangoli made by me

It was a typical Sunday night thinking about Monday assignments

When nothing in the world can seem to make a depressed soul happy

So, what could one's lobby or hobby be?

It's the teachings from the epic Ramayana

Told my Grandma

From her years of prayers and devotions

As long as we learn from Ramayana and implement in our daily lives

We shall lead a meaningful and dutiful life.
