Being Dad

It was love at first sight, as I saw you for the first time,

Tears just rolled down, I couldn't believe you were mine.

Your tiny little fingers, that first cute little smile,

That moment I knew, the wait has been worthwhile.

Immense was the happiness, but I had my own fears,

The little life in you, was dependent on everyone near.

There was no hint of what you need, of how I should take care,

Was there a guide to parenting, not knowing I should look where.

Mother child bond they say, start from your time in her womb,

No one says what should I do, for you to know your father is whom.

As you grow up, you ask for your mother to always be near,

I may stand close or far, but assure all my love is for you dear.

I might not be the first one, you call in your needs,

But you will find me all along, where your father should be.

There is lot heard and said, on how child changes life of mom-to-be,

Unspoken remains the love of father, behind all his strength we see.

Since the day we met, a silent promise to you I made,

I will be your supporting pillar, in life's each shade.

You are truly my bundle of joy, a blessing from heaven above,

The one I will always care for, who filled my heart and soul with love.
