At This Age
At This Age
The topic of conversation was, “To talk about those days!”
The days when they were in the fountain of their youth
And suddenly everyone’s faces glowed,
The ring of excitement in their voice clearly showed.
With a rainbow in their eyes,
They had already crossed the seven seas!
Memories of those youthful days came flashing by
The dreams,
Some fulfilled and some forgotten and buried deep within.
A few seconds
Later the excitement settled,
The realization seeped in, those days had gone by the wind.
Now, they are deeply stuck into the pipe-and-slippers rut.
Each got up, shrugged their shoulders off as if asking, “Now what? “
Some happy, some sad about the sneak peek they had of those youthful days.
The next day I woke up all fizzy-brained,
I was already feeling drained.
I blamed it on the age!
No matter how much you try to trick it will prick the bubble of your happiness
And make you realize, “Hey! Buddy, slow down you are not in your prime.”
I hated the thought that I was already at the threshold of ‘this age’!
At this age!
Alarmed, I realized Life had just passed by,
I never got the time of making "me" a priority.
A desire surfaced from the bottom of my heart
At this age, I have to make a new start!
At this age?
The doubts surfaced,
What is the point, of rekindling?
At this age You can’t start afresh, you can't rouse anew!
A voice from within asked," At this age why you want to go the another way?"
Why not?
If not, at this age then when?
I am in my second inning,
I have fulfilled my duties and responsibilities
Now, is the time to embrace the dreams of my youthful days!
It was I who buzzed, day in and out
"Dreamers have their heads in the clouds."
"Dreamers take leaps of faith, live in joy and rejoice!"
My dreams too are waiting for me.
I have to catch them
To draw strength to embrace and love my ageing self.
I have to catch them before I stand muted by time!
I have to catch them
At this age!
This is my only chance to prove to the world,
"Dreams are for everyone!"
