Kalam In Conversation With Gandhi
Kalam In Conversation With Gandhi
Kalam met Gandhi in the heavenly abode,
He bowed, and his respect he bestowed!
Gandhi greeted him with warmth and gentleness.
And congratulated him for leading his life with righteousness!
The two got involved in talks
About the well being of their countrymen,
And the power of the promising youth!
Gandhi said to Kalam, “My successor you have well played your role.”
“Will the next in line continue to play well and achieve all the set goals?”
Kalam smiled and nodded, “Bappu the India of your dreams have evolved well.”
“But it is still going through the transitional phase.”
“Many a time the rippling waves have tried to unsettle us.”
“But trust me Bappu, your teachings stood true through thick and thin.
They are tried and tested, and engraved deep within.”
At times the dark grey clouds loomed largely,
But they never succeeded to seal the fate of our country!
Today, India of our dreams stands at a crossroad,
On one side it has we, the predecessors
With our varied experiences, both triumphant and tragic
And on the other side, it has our successors
Who are ready to paint the world with their magic!
From this conjuncture,
"When my country looks at the dynamic old and the unprecedented new
I am sure it will be reminded of the many responsibilities it has to live through."
It is the duty of the present generatio
n,
To assimilate the old thought into the new.
To guide the behaviors of the emerging generations
so, to craft a more fulfilling intergenerational connection.
They are the two sides of the same coin,
These two the present generation has to adjoin!
They have to work hard, like never before
To maintain peace and accord,
To bridge the gap between the young and the old.
Our youth is driven with passion,
I told them, "All you have to do is fuel it, with the wisdom of your elders!"
"I understand the old are experienced but are fixed in their ways!"
"Here like an amicable mediator, they have to present the case
And make them accept the youngsters with their newly acquired ways."
"They have to play their role well,
To strengthen the intergenerational relationship
Without being interfering and autocratic to the new,
And disrespecting the old."
"With the power of love, they have to hold them together
And keep away the behaviors, that can ripple up the two generations!"
The future of the country stands on the foundation laid on its past.
The present has to nurture it!
So, the youth is empowered to reach out for the stars!
"Bappu, I think we have taught them well."
"We chose our path and walked on it with all our might,
I, am sure they too, will find their ways to be by the right!"
