Tears run from her eyes.
Yet in still, birthing life.
The first cries are heard from her.
Loving hands,
First comforters.
Kisses given,
Came from women.
That loved and carried,
A life birthed.
Hands weeding, her seedlings.
A woman waters her garden.
As she carries the weight,
Some garden in a blouse.
Others tend, in slacks.
No matter the hat is worn,
The pain burdens their back.
Tears run from their eyes.
Petals aren't lost, they stay intact.
Like a tree,
As if leaves were blowing,
In the wind.
Yet standing firm, rooted.
As women.
