As I Aged
As I Aged
The older I've become the more quiet I became
Life humbled me so deeply as I aged
Do you realize how much nonsense I wasted time upon?
The chapters closed I'm on a different page
Mistakes I made a long the way I simply won't repeat
It's me and only me who sets the tone
Regrets I had a few of them at times along the way
I now reach out beyond my comfort zone
Yesterday when I was young I thought I knew it all
I didn't have a clue what life's about
The years flew by so very fast, time has run away
No longer am I overcome with doubt
When I was young life was sweet, sweet as sweet can be
I built some dreams on weak and shifting sand
I had my share of happy times
Pain and misery, till now it hasn't gone the way I planned
Thought I had it figured out
Now I'm more awake
I open up my ears before I speak
The years went by so very fast so many disappeared
Sailent things are now the things I seek
Do you realize how much nonsense I wasted time upon?
The chapters closed I'm on a different page
The older I've become the quieter I became
Life humbled me so deeply as I aged
