Stop Violence Against Women

The question arises always,

In my mind,

Why and how the law is a need,

For human conduct to bind?

Then the question before my mind is

How violence against women can be prevented?

Particularly how rape can be prevented?

Experiences of life are laws,

To transform social mores is a function of laws.

If the laws are made without equality,

It is difficult to change the mindset of society. 

Rape is a human conduct, from society arises,

It is a lightning rod, that activates the public’s conscience.

Such vicious crimes create in society pain & anger,

Frustration comes to mind of victim-survivors.

So it is driving the demands of people to castrate, 

Accused of rape murder, to hang or mutilate. 

Some advocates for lynching accused of rape-murder crimes,

If such ways would solve the problem of crimes?

My emphatic answer to knowing the law is always no,

The violence against women won't stop by punishment alone.

In every third woman in the world anywhere,

One suffers some form of physical or sexual violence.

In every third woman in the world anywhere,

In a relationship, one experiences violent behaviour from their partner. 

Gender-based violence is an endemic global problem,

Embedded in the very marrow of every society, is a global problem.

A person in power is always at the heart of any matter,

The world will remain out of balance until fairly shared power.

The principles of equal justice must be upheld,

Justice with vengeance, should not be confused.

Only and only the principles of justice can be upheld,

When govt. measures, and access to justice for survivors, improved.

Violence against women begins at home, private life and families,

People to educate boys to control their thoughts & ambitions towards girls.

Violence against women are reflection of social responses,

It is necessary to ensure boys and girls grow with healthier gender roles.

Violators of law must be held accountable irrespective of position,

Those officials who fail to implement the law or traumatise victims.

Guarantee of swift effective responses to distress calls;

Necessity of compassionate policy victim-centred legal systems.

Violence against women is inextricably linked with their status, 

There is a need to promote women’s economic, social political rights. 

In a world where hearts have everlasting love,

Breeze glow, two souls would have strong love aflame.

Hearts align, bound by love, never to arise crime.

In tempests, man and women stand their ground,

Facing any challenge they face, by love they stand.

Men and women can stand in storms,

Love for humans guides everyone like a shining star.

It is to raise the boys to respect and value girls and women,

To have empathy for them, starting with their sisters, cousins, etc.  

The violence against women must be stopped,

Because violence against women is violence against humanity.
