An Urban Phoenix

An Urban Phoenix

There’s still some life left in me – and I am not done yet!

As I scrounge on ideas, no more gloating on your failures, no I’m no more complacent!

Yes! I had once fallen face down, for on an ant-hill called “love”, I had trodden bare-foot –

Gently I have gulped my ego now, and realized that was just for my deep past karmic soot!

I have changed a lot, my cardiac walls and my home interiors stand as its witness,

When you moved out, you left a nostalgia that is not worst, but rather poignant!

As I let go of your memories from my heart, again I have started seeing with my own eyes,

And hence I can see that there is still some life left in me and I am still not done yet!

Across those malicious turns, wearing lethargy as my mackintosh, I used to stroll,

No magic or voodoo could diagnose the pain, as I laid oblivious of self-care, trust and respect,

I forged pounds of hope gently onto the beads of life, a blacksmith I am, and so I am called,

As I rise again from those ashes where you left me cold, hopeless and torn!

For I consider these failures as my teachers now, and those heartaches as my pain balm,

Lubricating my senses with an intellectual oil, I find myself now much more serene and calm.

No more do I fall for knavish tricks and run with a comb to dress that angry lion’s mane,

Reborn in this urban jungle, I realize there’s a happy life bubbling in me and I’m certainly not done yet!
