A Teacher's Tears
A Teacher's Tears

Oh, my child! I taught you History with love
So that you may learn about world civilization
The greatness of Shivaji and Mahatma Gandhi
But you learnt about the war and bloodshed
You learn to the hate, riot to kill and destroy
Oh, my child! I taught you Geography, so that
You may learn the variants in lovely nature
The height of mountains and depth of oceans
But you learnt to draw boundaries and fight
You divided the land and the flowing rivers
Oh, my child! I taught you about Science
To learn the wonders of nature and the Universe
But you adulterated poor man’s foo
d and medicine
You polluted the air, water and eroded the soil
You made bombs and missiles to kill innocents
Oh, my dear child! I taught you mathematics
To add and multiply the nature’s energy and gifts
But you added communal violence and divided people
You multiplied differences and fractioned the Nation.
Oh, my dear child! I wish I had not taught you anything
But allowed you to remain as you were in the jungle
When you lived in the cave happy with your life
The world would have been a much better place
When you were left in the jungle, uncultured, uneducated.
