A Life Lost,Once Again

The day she was born,

None were happy.

The signs of anger and frustration were visible on everyone's face,

None seemed to welcome the newborn baby girl,

No one rose to celebrate the birth of a new member in their family;

The little room was completely silent,

Not a single decibel of sound was heard.

"You were expected to give birth to a boy",

"A baby boy could definitely carry forward the legacy of the family";

"What good would a girl do?",

The judgments were thrown at the mother just like a bullet,

She was confused herself,

She didn't understand;

If she should be happy to bring a new life on Earth,

Or if she would have to bear the consequences of giving birth to a girl.

She had to endure the taunts and curses of the people around her,

Their rigid mentality had already blinded them.

The poor soul was unaware of her 'misdeed',

Her family thought it was shameful,

It was shameful to give birth to a girl;

It was shameful to raise her amongst the boys in the family,

It was shameful to bear the expenses of her education and marriage,

She somehow turned to be a burden on her family.

Her mother was helpless too,

She was supported by none.

Not a single person,

Not even her husband stood beside her;

She was all alone.

That innocent little creation of God was snatched from the 'secured' arms of her mother,

The narrow mentality of humanity had played its role well.

Her father bashed her head against the wall like an angry demon,

The infant died at once.

A life was lost once again,

What wrong had the baby doing?

They worship a female Deity to get blessings,

but fail to realize the importance of a girl child in their life.

What a hypocrite man could be!

How ironical it is,

They don't hesitate to kill a newborn when they find out it's a woman,

Yet they're completely fine to be born out of, a woman.
