A Beautiful Lie

A Beautiful Lie

1 min 6.8K 1 min 6.8K

A beautiful pair of eyes
Set in a perfect face
Devoid of freckles or wrinkles
A sweet picture of grace.

And Oh! that body
Not a touch of baby fat
Perfectly toned, with flawless skin
Its difficult to forget that...

I gave you this glow
This beauty and this grace
Helped you patiently through many attempts
For this perfect picture of grace.

Five hundred likes,
And several more comments later
You finally felt accepted
You finally felt better.

But why?..why did you then
Go to that plain old mirror?
It was brutally frank to you
Turning your joy into horror.

It pointed out those freckles
Caused by happy sun kissed moments
Spent at a beach in the summer
Last year with your parents.

It ruthlessly showed you your body
Adorned with battle scars
Of wars badly lost
Against ice cream and chocobars.

It could have lied to you
that old school piece of glass
Ignorant of the current trends
Or whatever is accepted by the mass.

So come to me, O Dear!
To please everyone's eye
I'll help you hide your true self
Behind a beautiful lie.

Yours sincerely,
Your dslr camera and beautify app.
