Secret Of The Sassy Scribe
Secret Of The Sassy Scribe
He began writing only a few months ago. It began with what was called flash fiction, fiction in just about 40-50 words. His first story went like this.
“He failed in the interview once again. He had missed the bus. He started walking towards the railway track for he knew that the Shatabdi was always on time. “
Then he began to write on things that were topical. He wrote the following thinking of Vijay Mallaya of the Kingfisher fame.
Fly by Night
At the annual conference of ornithologists, many speakers observed that the sighting of a particular species of bird has become a rarity nowadays. Debate raged. Was it due to the increase in a big fish catch? Someone had asked. Governmental regulation was meant to catch big fish only and not meant for small fish, remarked somebody else. A maverick ornithologist who specializes in owls, bats and other “fly by night operators” stood up and said that he was now able to confirm that what he thought to be a new species of nocturnal bird that was sighted frequently was none other than “King Fisher”. This type of evolutionary changes in behavior was not specific to humans but also to others in the animal kingdom, concluded the speaker.
Soon he started writing stories. First one was set in the Sundarbans about how the poor pay the price for global warming aptly titled “wrong billing.” Within no time he had written about 50 poems and stories. His friends said he was copious in his creativity. Once he wrote a poem with about 10 lines all starting with a Q-word. His wife’s cousin asked if he was playing scrabble when he wrote that. He had then reposted that it was the scrabble of the mind. Another poem followed titled “the scrabble of the mind” as if the mind was playing scrabble. He experimented with a poem full of riddles. For a sample,
It may be in the air or in the sight
See me you cannot, but feel me you can
You can go blind if you are not careful
But it is not a matter of the eyes
What am I?
Love
He then reinterpreted the meaning of words and called them the dictionary of cheekiness. Sample this
1. Corruption: greasing of the rusted palm under the table.
2. Meditation: legitimate spiritual time out for fantasies without intrusion by your spouse.
Yet the question remained where this was all coming from? Was there any secret to his creativity? He, discussed with his wife too. Then the answer came blowing in the ether. He wrote
Who is the Creator?
In the One Drive cloud of the mind
Ideas raining, flooding with thoughts
Words get flushed out
From the ‘right’ hemisphere
Carried by the Ether
To the northern hemisphere
Along the longitude and latitude
To Bengaluru where I receive them with the
The antenna of my own.
Can anyone say this is Made in India?
Or I created it?
I am just an eclectic receiver
With an open antenna.
Or a medium with a median intelligence.
Why be a Hamlet?
It could have come from you.
All it requires is an open mind
And one that is untethered.
Stay tuned to the events
Spend time in solitude
Think differently on purpose
Step out of your comfort zone
It may be that you become receptive
In the One Drive cloud of the mind.
Was that the real secret or is it yet to be out? Your judgment!
