A "Tiny" Tale

"Every small thing has a lot of importance in our life," said one of the speakers in a workshop I attended.

After pondering over those words for a quite long time I left the place and booked a cab. While I was swiping the screen for the cheapest fare my phone rang, it was my mother. Yes, certainly the only person who is concerned about me and my lunch oh which I forgot at home.

After finishing her long lecture on how I can leave home without my lunchbox she added "learn to take care of these small things in your life”, and then she hung up.

After a couple of minutes, I thought of returning home quickly to save myself from any other phone call.

While I was trying to locate my headphones in every possible pocket of my bag for surviving my cab ride my finger got pricked by a safety pin - ouch! I exclaimed. That holy little thing hurts so much ... Too small, though too pointed.

Little? Small? It just reminded me of those words which were running through my mind since morning that taught me to take care of small things in my life. So, am I also supposed to take care of this small safety pin lying in the last pocket of my bag? It seemed that the small safety pin in my hand was instigating me to count on its value and appreciate it.

Though it won't be wrong to say that this small safety pin has proven well enough as a lifesaver for me! I remember two years ago when I was recognized as a skinny creature and my favorite party gown which was gifted by my father on my birthday seemed so baggy on me it was this safety pin which managed to fit the dress so well. I also remember when it saved me in my school during the sports period holding the raw stitch of my skirt. And, when pepper spray was not in the trend I pricked that hand which was holding my back using its pointed tip in the public bus.

I think this is one of the smallest things in my closet and yet the most useful and I promise you "tiny lifesaver" this last pocket will always be reserved for you and valued as well.
